ASME Student Section wins

3rd place

in Interregional Competition

At the 2004 Region XI - ASME Regional Student Conference last spring, the ASME student section of USF was awarded first place in the Ingersoll-Rand Contest. The Ingersoll-Rand Contest is structured to strengthen ASME student sections by providing guidelines for a diverse range of activities, as well as promote professionalism, leadership and service. Student sections that demonstrate outstanding achievement are recognized for the manner in which they conduct their affairs.

The first ASME Student Section NASA Tripplace award in Region XI qualified USF for the Ingersoll-Rand Interregional Contest. The Ingersoll-Rand Interregional matched winners from schools in the ASME Regions I-XII located in USA, Canada and Mexico, and Region XIII schools located outside North America. The ASME student section at USF was awarded third place in this highly competitive contest. In a letter to Dr. Mann notifying him of the award, Mr. John Corcoran, ASME Managing Director of Member Affairs wrote, "Your section's efforts in the contest were truly outstanding and should serve as an example to other student sections to follow."
