Mini-Baja 2004

Kevin Edwards reporting

Vancouver, WA,

The Society of Automotive Engineers at the University of South Florida has just completed the Mini Baja West competition. This was the first race with their all-new, fourth-generation Mini Baja car.

Out of 89 registered teams, USF placed

  • first in the Acceleration Event,

  • first in the Maneuverability Event,

  • fifth in the four-hour Endurance race, and

  • fourth place overall.

This is, by far, the best USF has ever placed in a Mini Baja competition,

and opens the possibility of an overall victory in the three North American Mini Baja competitions in 2004.

While USF SAE has many members, those traveling are: Andrew Bridges,

Christopher Chow, Kevin Cochran, Kevin Edwards, Nicolas Frey, Amy Gamett, and Nigel Love. Currently, the team is traveling across the northern U.S., and will arrive in Montreal, Quebec in time for the Mini Baja East competition, to be held May 5 through May 8, 2004
